Overview

Madi Nelson’s premier collaboration with BrüMate, Pink Gingham, is a lively pink print, and carries through the positive energy of Summer this year! She isn’t someone I was familiar with before this Collab (which I assume is part of the point of a collab--to overlap and capture members from each other’s audience!), but after a quick review of her Reels and her business venture “Talulah,” the choice in print seems perfect! Not only is pink a color frequently appearing in her content, it’s often a gingham or checkered print bag or outfit. Her content focuses on the joys of her family and traveling, so it’s not surprising to see her collaborate with the makers of top-notch drinkware for traveling or keeping young kids hydrated while out and about!

Design

One year and three weeks after the Pear and Capri Gingham (Vitality x BrüMate) were released, BrüMate is reusing the classic fabric pattern in a bright new hue. (An interesting choice to make, when you note that the previous drop took a different page from Vitality’s Spring Collaboration in reusing the word Capri for Blue). The continuing use of Gingham by BrüMate seems to illustrate the longevity of this pattern of stripes--earliest use of the pattern appeared in the early 1600’s! Finally, I want to shout-out Pink Checker. This was a collab with Krista Horton in two parts: the original collab with Krista Horton in 2023, and then the rerelease as part of BrüMate’s Holiday Capsule Collection in 2024.

Enough with the history lessons, let’s look at what makes this release different! Two-tone hardware (handles, OctaLock lids, straw/disk assembly, and slider), isn’t exclusively unique to this drop, but the contrast between shades of pink feels more dramatic than other releases, and I think the difference is due to the third, lighter shade of pink used for the hard plastics against the two shades that create the stripes of the gingham print on the body of the cup. It’s altogether a lovely combination of pinks that make it soft enough to pair with springtime florals, yet bold enough to stand out in the heat of Summer!

While it isn’t a comprehensive, all-styles-and-sizes drop, Pink Gingham hits all the high notes, being a rare drop to include all three members of The Trifecta: Slim, Trio, & Müv 15. These three items are historically among the first to sell out, so you’ll have to be quick if those are your go-to-Brüs!
